Australia most popular destination for Chinese travellers
The 2010 Visa and PATA Asia Pacific Travel Intentions Survey has revealed Australia is the country that more Chinese travellers intend to visit than any other.
More than 50% of the travellers surveyed from mainland China were planning on visiting Australia over the next two years.
Since Australia gained Approved Destination Status (ADS) in 1999, China has become one of our top five sources of international travellers. In the year ending March 2010 alone, there were 360,000 visitors to our shores from China.
The survey also revealed the top three attributes that Chinese travellers look for in an overseas destination:
· natural scenery
· sunshine and beaches
· new places
Hmm, sounds remarkably like Sydney, wouldn’t you say?
